Privacy Policy

Short version: Wick has no sign-up, named user profiles, or ads, and it never records or transmits your microphone audio. It uses randomly generated user and installation identifiers with PostHog and Google Firebase to connect product usage, app-screen session recordings, diagnostics, and notification activity from the same app user or installation. These identifiers are not your name, email, or advertising identifier.

Information we collect

We do not ask you to create an account and we never collect your name, email, contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers. To operate and improve the app, we collect pseudonymous usage information through PostHog and Google Firebase:

• Product events — for example that a clean was started or finished, the result outcome, which mode was chosen, and whether a purchase or restore completed. Purchase events include the product, price, and currency reported by the store. These events are linked to Wick's randomly generated user and installation identifiers.
• Session recordings — a replay of Wick's own screens during a session, so we can see where the interface is confusing. On-screen text is masked in these recordings; they show the layout and controls without text-field contents.
• Basic device and app info — device model, operating system version, app version, and randomly generated user and installation identifiers. Wick uses the same Firebase user identifier in PostHog so app activity and notification opens can be correlated; the installation identifier distinguishes devices. PostHog may derive an approximate region from your IP address.
• Crash and diagnostic reports — through Google Firebase Crashlytics, so we can find and fix crashes. These include the crash stack and device state, not personal content.
• Push notifications — if you enable Occasional Reminders in Wick's Settings, Firebase Cloud Messaging issues a device token so we can send cleaning reminders and Wick updates. When you tap a Wick notification, we record the anonymous user, installation, and notification identifiers so we can measure opens. You can opt out in Wick at any time, independently of your device's notification settings.

Microphone

Wick requests microphone access for one purpose: to measure your speaker's output before and after ejecting water, so it can show you the difference. Audio is processed live on your device and is never recorded, saved, or transmitted. It never leaves your device, and Wick keeps no audio.

Purchases

Wick offers a one-time in-app purchase to unlock premium modes. Payments are handled by Apple through the App Store or Google through Google Play. We never see or store your payment details. On Android, Wick sends the Play purchase token and the randomly generated Firebase user token to our Firebase service so it can verify the purchase with Google before unlocking the app. Apple's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy apply to their transaction processing.

For Google Play review, reviewers can enter a private access code in the Android app. Wick sends the code and anonymous Firebase user token to our Firebase service, which grants Wick Full access to that installation for up to 90 days. The code is not sent to analytics or shown in session recordings.

Third parties

Wick uses two analytics and reliability providers, and no advertising SDKs:

• PostHog (United States) — pseudonymous product analytics and session replay.
• Google Firebase — analytics, Crashlytics crash reporting, Remote Config, and Cloud Messaging (push). Google's privacy terms apply to data it processes.

None of this data is used for cross-app advertising tracking or sold to anyone.

Data sharing

We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. The only recipients are our processors — PostHog and Google Firebase — which handle the pseudonymous usage, crash, and messaging data described above so we can improve the app.

Children

Wick does not ask for a child's name, email, contacts, precise location, or advertising identifier. The pseudonymous app-use and diagnostic data described above is collected in the same way for every user.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll post the updated version on this page with a new date.
